Brasher Falls - Donald P. Perry, Sr., 80, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Mr. Perry was born on November 18, 1930 in Parishville, son of the late Anson A. and Pearl E. Meashaw Perry. He married Carolyn J. Warner on August 23, 1955 at St. Mary's Church in Potsdam with Rev. E. M. Deleney. Mrs. Perry passed away April 16, 1994. Mr. Perry worked at General Motors in Massena, as a machine operator, retiring in 1987 after 28 years. He was a past member of the Hopkinton-Ft. Jackson Fire Dept., and the Lawrenceville Fire Dept. He enjoyed bowling, having joined the Monday, Saturday and the Senior Leagues in Moira and was also a member of the Tri Town Senior Citizens.
He is survived by five children, Donald (Skip) P. Perry, Jr. of Massena, Kelly and Larry Rafter of Graceville, FL, Christine and Gary Grant of W. Potsdam, Lynn Perry of Gracevillle, FL and Michael J. and Val Perry of Mitchell, IN; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Donald was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Perry, Maurice Perry, Margaret Perry and Ruth Lauber and his companion, Corinne Crump.
His family will receive friends at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Donald's funeral service will be Tuesday morning at 10 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hopkinton-Ft. Jackson Cemetery.
