Canton - Randy J. Coffin, 52, of Canton formerly of Massena, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, February 21, 2011 at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Randy was born on February 23, 1958 in Massena, son of the late Donald J. and Arlene L. Wilson Coffin. He graduated from Madrid Waddington High School and worked locally at Marshall's IGA in Waddington and then at Massena Memorial Hospital in security/maintenance department. He went to ALCOA in Massena, working as a crane driver then to the Ingot department. He married Peggy Gibson, which ended later. Randy enjoyed the outdoors; hunting and fishing with friends at the Prospect Hunting Club, 4 wheeling, golfing, wood working and carving. He was a huge Syracuse Orange Basketball fan, also followed the NY Giants and Boston Celtics. His greatest moments of enjoyment were his children; watching them grow and never missing any of their sporting events. He was a beloved father, son, brother and companion. Surviving Randy is his companion, Dawn Amo of Canton; his children, Kyle Coffin of Las Cruses, NM, Tyler Coffin and his fiancé, Alicia Maston of Fairport and Abbi Coffin of Massena; his brother and sisters, Jeff Coffin of Canastota, Sandy Coffin and Dave Welker of Colorado, Donna Sienkiewycz of Massena, Sherry Hewitt of Chase Mills, Robin and Vernon Datoush of Watertown and Shelly and Edward Votra of Massena; his faithful buddy, Bandit and his feline companion, Koal; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Massena. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Norfolk. Please consider donations in his memory to the Massena High School Sports Program.
