Obituary of Shirley Lee Frary

Nicholville - Shirley L. Frary, formerly of Church Street, North Lawrence entered into rest Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Canton Potsdam Hospital, with her beloved family at her side. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. She was born June 20, 1946, the daughter of the late John and Virginia (Potter) Newtown. Being a North Country native, she attended school in Parishville-Hopkinton, and St. Lawrence Central Schools. On April 24, 1965 she married William Frary, at the St. Lawrence Church, North Lawrence. Shirley was a home maker most of her life and at one time she worked as a waitress and cook for Ethan's, Brasher Falls. Shirley enjoyed her trips to Florida with her husband, as well as camping, playing bingo, or taking chances at the Casino. Shirley leaves behind her beloved husband William of 45 years; her children, Scott and Penny Frary, Terri Lynn Hastings, Dean and LeeAnn Frary all of North Lawrence, Kelly Frary of Dannamora, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one brother John and Theresa Newtown of Winthrop; one sister Catherine and Lonnie Spoor of Florida; her step mother Patricia Newtown, of Winthrop, two half brothers Timothy Newtown of South Carolina, Steven Newtown of Potsdam; and one half sister Kimberly Booth of Indiana. She is predeceased by her first born son, William O. Frary, who passed away during infancy, her brother Darrell and her half brother Kevin. Shirley's family has requested in lieu of floral offerings, please consider monetary donations to the Tri-Town Volunteer Rescue or the Nicholville Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Hammill Funeral Home Friday from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will begin at 8:00 pm, with the Rev.
