Lawrenceville - Jean M. Ryan, 53, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, surrounded by her family and Hospice. Friends may call at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, Saturday from 2 to 6 with a service at 6pm. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Buckton. Jean was born on March 24, 1957 in Potsdam, daughter of the late Harold and Joyce Bullock Stark. She went to school at Norwood-Norfolk and on June 30, 1973 married George F. Ryan, Sr. in Norfolk. She worked for a dry cleaners in Massachusetts, also for a fruit farm in Sodus and then at Tru-Stitch in Bombay. She found solace in her gardening, but her greatest enjoyment was her family; her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She is survived by her husband, George; their children, Tammy Jo Ryan and James Gardner, Gerald Ryan, both of N. Lawrence, George Ryan Jr. and Dorothy Mott of Bangor, Harold and Patricia Ryan of Brushton, and Virginia Ryan and Jeff Olson of Florida; 13 grandchildren, LeAnne and James Gardner, Jr., Meagan and Alex Ryan, Adam Mott, Ethan and Hayden Ryan, Paul, Stephanie, Meagan, Desiree Jock, Katelyn and Samantha Ryan; 3 sisters, Linda and Alex Razis of Winthrop, Sally Stark and her companion, Gerald Cook of Williamson, Carol and David LaBier of Lawrenceville; 5 brothers, Harold and Cindy Stark of Lawrenceville, Ralph and Sandy Stark of Ft. Meyers, FL, Kenny and Joan Stark of Winthrop, Terry and Karen Stark of Ft. Jackson and Gary and Darlene Stark of Ogdensburg; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, two brothers in law, Larry Ryan and James Shanty and one nephew, Ralph Stark, predeceased her.
