Frederick L. Bissonette, 65, of Brasher Falls, died suddenly at his home on Monday, May 9, 2011. Fred was born on November 12, 1945, in Massena, and is the son of Floyd J. and Marjorie I. Cross Bissonette. He attended St. Lawrence Central School and graduated in 1965. He married Rozella Newtown on October 14, 1966, which ended in divorce. In August 1966, he entered the US Army and completed his enlistment in August 1972. He married Marlene Collette on December 15, 1990. He retired from Alcoa in Massena, after 35 years on July 2000. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and his large family. Fred is survived by his wife, Marlene; two daughters, Kimberlie and Gretchen Bissonette; and three stepchildren, Craig and Kevin Jessmer, and Christine Hartson; one granddaughter, Bronwen Compo; three grandsons, Owen Compo and Vince and Nathan Bell; one step-granddaughter, Ryan Jessemer; five step-grandsons, Miles Peterson, Jeff, Michael, Dustin and Tyler Jessmer; one great-grandchild, Destinn LaFrance; five brothers, Floyd, of Norfolk, Daniel "Jerry," of Brasher Falls, William, of Knoxville, TN, Andrew G., of Oswego, and Vernon, of Star Lake; and two sisters, Laurel, of Potsdam, and Leslie Hamilton, of Brasher Falls; and He by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Donald T.; and two brothers in infancy. Calling hours will be held Friday, May 13, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. at Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Funeral services will be held immediately following, with the Rev. Vernon Bissonette and Pastor Andy Reese officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tri Town Volunteer Rescue Squad.
