Massena - Douglas A. Hutchins, 66, passed away Thursday (February 9, 2012) at the Highland Nursing Home. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. Douglas was born March 7, 1945 in Potsdam, son of the late Bernard & Inez (Carson) Hutchins. He was a 1963 graduate of St. Lawrence Central School. After graduation he was employed with Alcoa, in the water treatment plant; retiring in 1995 after thirty years. On October 2, 1965 he married Sandra Bell. He is survived by his children; Elizabeth Perry of Massena, Chris & Connie Hutchins of Massena, and James & Sarah Hutchins of New Jersey, his mother; Inez Hutchins of Winthrop, three sisters; Joan & Martin Coolidge and Irene Royce of North Carolina, and Doris Kelly of Winthrop; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A brother, James and a sister Lois predeceased him. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the Trinity Scholarship Fund, 188 Main Street, Massena, New York 13662. There will be no public visitation, however a graveside service will be held in the spring. Memories and condolences may be shared with the Hutchins family at www.hammillfh.com.
