North Lawrence - Rita E. Yaddow, 94, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Mrs. Yaddow was born on July 12, 1917 in Bombay, daughter of the late Daniel and Lillian (Long) Foy. She married Bernard Yaddow on October 3, 1935 at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls. Mr. Yaddow passed away on Jan. 14, 1964. Rita was a Star Route Carrier for the U. S. Postal Service in North Lawrence for 35 dedicated years, retiring in 1997. Her love for her job was evident in her timely delivery of the mail. She gave great care to her gardens and could be seen regularly riding her mower. Through the years, Rita lovingly raised Pomeranians and Poodles, and showed the same care to the birds she fed. Rita was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and a member of the North Lawrence Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her nephew and niece, who were her caretakers, Larry and Tina Foley of North Lawrence. Besides her husband, she was also predeceased by her infant son, Fay Daniel, on July 14, 1945, her brother, Kenneth Foy in 1979 and her step-brother Michael Burns in 2002. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 am at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in North Lawrence. Flowers are gratefully declined; but those wishing to do so, please consider donations to the St. Lawrence Altar and Rosary Society.
