Norfolk - Doris J. Simons, 92, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 17, 2012, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love and care of her family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Doris was born in Norfolk on November 3, 1919, daughter of the late William and Winifred (Burgess) Lonkey. She graduated from Massena High School in 1936. In March of 1942, she married Steve Simons of Norfolk at the Brasher Falls United Methodist Church parsonage. Mr. Simons passed away on October 25, 1977. Surviving Doris is her son Philip of Norfolk, two granddaughters: Christine McPhilomy and Lisa Ziegler, both of Ft. Meyers, FL, and her great grandchildren. One son, Steve, predeceased her. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home, with her funeral service and Celebration of Life commencing at 11am. Burial will be in Winthrop Cemetery.
