Potsdam- Ms. Gloria (Goodreau) Stevens, 71, passed away Thursday November 29, 2012 in the comfort of her home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Gloria was born on May 3, 1941 in Massena to the late Lucien E. and Ruth (Snyder) Goodreau. She was raised and educated locally. Gloria was married to James Stevens for 12 years until the time of his passing on March 3, 1976. She shared in a special companionship with Franklin Nassivera for 28 years until his passing. She worked for many years as a waitress for Guy’s Diner. A true independent woman and homemaker; Gloria always maintained her home and provided for her family and loved ones, even her feline friends never went uncared for. Gloria is survived by her children: Ernie and Jessica Dumers, Patrick and Debbie Baxter, and Cathie and Mark Ashe all of FL., Christine and Frank Hillenbrand of Massena, and Tammy and Chris Kline of Panama City, her grandchildren, her siblings: Emery L. Goodreau of Texas, Randy Goodreau of White Hall, Shirley Moniere of Massena, Darlene Lovell of MS, Marlene Russell of Massena, and Debby and Dale Amo of Brasher Falls, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Ronald Baxter, and one brother, Gene Goodreau. Visitation will be Monday from 4-6 at the funeral home. Gloria’s Funeral Service and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10AM at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with Rev. Garry Giroux presiding.
