St. Regis Falls - Melita "Jeanie" Quinn, 64, passed away Monday, February 04, 2013 at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Melita was born on February 24, 1948 in Cleveland, OH, daughter of Ralph M. and Melania (Gonzales) Farmer. She graduated from St. Regis Falls Central School and studied at North Country Community College. Melita served her country in the U. S. Air Force.
She married Brian Quinn on April 20, 1985 in Santa Clara and together they shared a loving union over 27 years. Melita enjoyed her time spent together with family, with special fondness for her grandchildren, and cherished the many friendships she made. The beauty of the Adirondacks brought her peace, and she was especially delighted with any butterfly she saw. She also enjoyed listening to her favorite music, watching good movies and Jeopardy, and reading. Melita was a past member of the Women's Pool League, also serving as League President for several years; and was a past member of the Waverly Community Band, playing the flute.
Melita is survived by her husband, Brian; her father, Ralph Farmer of St. Regis Falls; her children, Derek and Maribel Dwyer of Florida, Gordon Winters of St. Regis Falls, Sabrina and John Fraser of Dickinson, Darren Allen and Tracy Elliott of St. Regis Falls and Dejah Allen of St. Regis Falls; six grandchildren, Deandra, Mark, Sage, Skyelin, Mason and Sara; and one sister, Theresa Gallagher of Cleveland, OH. She was predeceased by her mother, Melania Farmer.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home in St Regis Falls.
