Buckton- Ms. Debra L. (Yandoh) Malley, 59, passed away peacefully Thursday April 14, 2013 after her courageous battle with brain cancer, in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love, care, and support of her family and hospice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Debra was born in Potsdam on April 20, 1953 to John W. and Beverly (Green) Yandoh Sr. She attended St. Lawrence Central High School.
For 15 years, Debra was employed at the Harold Journal in Syracuse. With her hard work ethic and determined spirit, she was the very 1st woman in NY to become and earn the title of journeyman; 4th overall in the US. She also worked many years at the former Erin’s Isle providing a trustworthy opinion and a helpful work ethic worthy of a right hand man.
Debbie was blessed with a talented and crafty nature. As a seamstress she created and made many quilts, blankets and in early years, clothing. Her creative eye and outgoing way often led her garage sale-ing or antiquing, always finding something special. She enjoyed caring for her beautiful flowers; something she was proud of. Debra also liked to dance.
Family was important to Debra. She cherished time together, especially with her grandchildren.
She is survived by, her devoted fiancé, Kerry Dunbar of Buckton, her mother, Beverly Yandoh of Winthrop, her children: Shelby and Luther LaRoche of Goose Creek, SC., Melissa Malley Richardson of Brasher Falls, Jay and Chapin LaShombe of Burlington, VT., Shawna Dunbar of RI., Regan Dunbar of Buckton, and Haleigh Dunbar of Massena, 7 grandchildren: Lakita, Joslyn, Jordan, Darien, Jazmyn, Khalid, and Mya, and 4 great-grandchildren: Navaeh, Noah, Brody, and Payden. Her siblings: David and Sandy Yandoh of FL., Tammy Burch and fiancé Donovan Cunningham of Massena, Pamela Bressett and companion Mike White of Winthrop, John and Molly Yandoh Jr. of Winthrop, Dale Yandoh of Winthrop, Lisa Yandoh of Sanfordville, Stephen and Beth Yandoh of Winthrop, Julie Woods of Winthrop, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Debra was predeceased by her father, John W. Yandoh Sr. on April 19, 2003.
Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home. Debra’s Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be Friday at 11am at the Brasher Falls United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregg Stierheim officiating. Burial will take place in Winthrop Cemetery.
