Norfolk - Hollis O. "Jack" Monroe, 81, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Massena Memorial Hospital. Following Jack's wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Jack was born on August 14, 1931 in Norfolk, son of the late Henry E. and Grace C. (Jessmer) Monroe. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. On May 29, 1965, he married Antionette "Toni" Gauthier in Warehouse Point, CT with whom he shared 47 years. Jack owned and operated a dairy farm on the Plumbrook Road and when he was able, spent time with his fellow legionnaires at the American Legion in Norfolk. He is survived by his wife, Toni; one brother, Wendell and Janice Monroe of Norfolk, two sisters, Constance Euto of Massena and Phyllis and Frank LaDue of Norfolk; many nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by six brothers, Ralph, Donald, David Claude, George and Henry; and five sisters, Ianthia Jones, Iona Prashaw, Cleodora Porter, Carol Fleury and Stella Mae Monroe.
