Dave was a great fellow Alcoan, he will be missed dearly by everyone. I have also lost a great personal friend. I worked with Dave for almost 34 years and we developed a great friendship, not only at work but outside of work as well. Dave always had time to answer questions or give a helping hand to a co-worker when asked. Dave loved to joke around and have a good laugh even if it was at his expense. Sometimes when I would call him at home when he answered the phone I would ask “Hey Mr. Wilson can you come out and play? and he would usually respond “yayaya! or “yes Dennis, in a few minutes! Dave & Ellie became very good friends of the family. He always had time to talk with our kids and ask how they were doing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ellie, Justin, Jeff, and the entire family.

Dave always always had time for a friend or co-worker in need of help, assistance or just a sounding board. When I was going through a tough time in my life, Dave was always available to talk to and even afterwards would always ask how things were going, always being optimistic and encouraging. Even during hectic days or challenging times at work, Dave would still ask me how things were coming along and if I was doing okay. That was Dave, a really wonderful person, friend and co-worker. He will most certainly be missed by all of us at Alcoa.

Poppy was the rock of this family, when i think of true love it was his unconditional love he showed for yuyu. When you had a question he was the man you went to and he always had your answer. My fondest memory will always be us kids in the old house in the living room taking turns as poppy laid on the floor lifting each of us kids up in the air on his feet doing it as long as we wanted. Poppy always had the answer and always made sure each and every one of us was loved. I miss you Poppy.

Winthrop - David E. Wilson, 57, passed away peacefully at home with the support of his loving wife and family by his side on Sunday, June 23, 2013. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Born in Massena on February 4, 1956, David is the son of the late William L. and Irene (Finnegan) Wilson. He graduated from St. Lawrence Central School in 1974 and went to work at ALCOA. On August 6, 1977, he married Ellen F. Bradish at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with Rev. Louis Gardner celebrating. They shared their lives and loved each other unconditionally for over 35 years. David worked at ALCOA, in the pot rooms as supervisor, retiring this past May due to his illness.
He felt his most important roles were as husband, father and Papa; also showing his nieces and nephews special affection, to earn him the name of Poppy. He gave his love, and was physically and spiritually present for his family with support and encouragement. Family was everything to him and was blessed when his sons gave him grandchildren. He beamed whenever his grandchildren were around; either at home, spending time at camp or just watching classic TV shows.
David is survived by his wife,
Wilson of Gardner, MA; his nieces and nephews, who called him "Uncle "and "Poppy". He was predeceased by two brothers, James and Walter, who now welcome him home with their parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8pm and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. David's Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10am at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with Rev. Garry Giroux celebrating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Those wishing to express an act of kindness, please consider donations in David's memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, Inc., 6805 US Hwy 11, Potsdam, NY 13676.
Memories and condolences can be shared with his family at www.hammillfh.com.
