Norfolk- Mr. Thaddeus "Ted" P. Walukiewicz, 81, passed away peacefully, Tuesday July 16, 2013 at the Massena Memorial Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Ted was born in Trenton, NJ on August 1, 1931 to the late Stanily and Wanda (Lewanowicz) Walukiewicz. He was raised and educated locally graduating from Catholic High School in Trenton. Excelling in his athletic ability in baseball, Ted was drafted by the NY Yankees at the young age of 16 and awarded All State Baseball Honors for Trenton NJ. Ted proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, earning an honorable discharge in 1953. He was a fireman for 27 years for the Town of Trenton Fire Dept. On July 16, 1996, Ted was married by the church in Iowa to Joan C. (O'Day) Murphy. He is survived by his life partner, Joan, 12 siblings, and several nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 at the funeral home. Ted's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9am at St. Therese's Church in Nicholville. Interment with Military Honors will take place in the parish cemetery.
