Winthrop- Ms. Charlene M. Foster, 58, passed away Tues. Aug. 20, 2013 at the Fletcher-Allen Med. Center in Burlington, VT., surrounded by the love and support of her family. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Charlene was born in Potsdam on April 6, 1955 to Ceylon and Nellie (Wilmot) Foster. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Potsdam High School in 1976. She was blessed with a perfect companion for life, Charles L. Thomas Sr. They shared 36 years of love and devotion for each other and their family. For many years, Charlene worked as a nurse’s aid at the LBSH in Brasher Falls, always showing compassion and care to the elderly. Those who knew and loved Charlene would say she always thought of others before herself; giving, loving and caring are just a few words that describe this special woman. She adored her grand-babies; and with her super personality was always making others laugh. Charlene enjoyed cooking, especially lasagna and had a knack for collecting pens and key chains. She is survived by her life companion: Charles, her children: Charles Thomas Jr. of Winthrop, Jolene and Ellison Price of North Lawrence, and Jennifer Thomas of Winthrop, her mother Nellie Foster of West Stockholm, 3 grandchildren, and 1 great- grandson, 9 siblings: Sharon and Lawrence Mitchell of Potsdam, Ceylon and Muriel Foster Jr. of West Stockholm, Leo and Susan Foster of West Stockholm, Randy Foster and Rita Barber of Potsdam, Shirley Colbert of Jordan, Wayne and Bryn Foster of Winthrop, Steven and Linda Foster of West Stockholm, Gary Foster of West Stockholm, Kerry and Kathy Foster of Winthrop, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charlene was predeceased by her father, Ceylon Foster Sr. and her brother Joseph Foster. Visitation will be Friday from 11-12:45 at the Life in His Arms Comm. Church in North Lawrence, with Charlene’s funeral service beginning at 1:00PM. Burial will take place in West Stockholm Cemetery.
