Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Norfolk – Larry R. “Butch” McConnohie, 60, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Massena Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Butch was born on December 22, 1952 in Uniontown, PA, the only child of the late August and Freda (Savage) McConnohie. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Massena Central School. Butch owned and operated Butch’s Auto, his first shop being on Route 420 then on Route 56 in Norfolk. He was a dependable, hard-working man with a friendly nature that kept his customers coming back. In 1978, he met the love of his life, Cindy LaBounty, sharing 35 years of a mutual supportive relationship. He took pride in raising buffalo and deer but found it difficult to let them go for slaughter. He found entertainment in golfing, biking and go carts. His favorite pastimes were 4-wheeling, and the ritual Friday night analysis sessions after work, which would include some pool playing. He was a kind-hearted, fun-loving man, who would always be available to help someone in need. He loved being in the company of family and friends. He is survived by his companion, Cindy; aunts, uncles and cousins with many close friends. Visitation for Butch will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop with a prayer service to commence at 7pm with Fr. Alfred Fish officiating. Floral offerings are gratefully declined. Those wishing to show an act of kindness in Butch’s memory, please consider donations to the Potsdam or Massena Humane Society, to support his love of animals Memories and condolences can be shared with his family at www.hammillfh.com.
