Obituary of Gladys E. (Fadden) Hartman

Norwood- Mrs. Gladys E. (Fadden) Hartman, 71, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2014 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, surrounded by the love and support of her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Gladys was born on June 27, 1942 in Syracuse to the late James R. and Gladys E. (Merrick) Fadden. She was raised and educated locally, attending St. Regis Falls and Brushton-Moira Schools. In 1976 she was married to Timothy A. Hartman in Malone. He predeceased her on January 20, 2009. For 16 years Gladys worked at the Dress Factory in Malone making dresses, and when the company changed ownership she then made outdoor clothing and gear. Her true calling however, was raising her children and caring for her home. Gladys was always attentive to their needs and provided care and compassion when needed most. Being there for her family was very important to Gladys and this was clearly evident as she will be greatly missed. Gladys always loved a good puzzle, crossword or word search. She especially loved doing crosswords over the phone with dear friends, and always looked forward to a good card game. She enjoyed bowling, and at one time was a league member at the Crossroads in Moira. She is survived by her children: Aaron Hartman and his fiancé Sonia Bice of Pulaski, and Jennifer Hartman of Norwood, grandchildren: Bailie Rose Semmel and Aaron Hartman Jr., sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace Ann and Reginald Brabon of Brasher Falls, and Ida and Harry Brabon of Norwood, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 sisters: Eleanor Carol Hall, and Doris Haywood. Visitation will be Saturday from 11-12 at the Free United Methodist Church in St. Regis Falls. Gladys’s Funeral Service will commence upon conclusion of visitation at 12noon, with Pastor Bob Billings officiating. Burial will take place at Sand Hill Cemetery at a later date.
