Brasher Falls - Elizabeth G. "Bette" Sienkiewycz, 84, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the St. Regis Nursing Home with her family by her side. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Bette was born on August 21, 1930 in Stockholm, daughter of the late Frederick J. and Gertrude (Brothers) Bryant. She graduated from St. Joseph Acadamy in Brasher Falls and on September 20, 1947 she married John J. Finazzo at St. Patrick Church. They were blessed with seven children in their 36 years together until his passing on October 12, 1983. Bette was blessed again with a second union when she married John P. Sienkiewycz in 1985 at St. Patrick Church with Rev. James Shurtleff celebrating. They admired each other and were by each other's side until John's passing on December 14, 2014. She worked throughout the years; at St. Patrick School in the cafeteria and then she went to the St. Regis Nursing Home. She first worked as a nurse's aide then became a physical therapy aide. Bette looked forward to all family gatherings, especially watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her constant joy is her children, through the good times and difficult, they gave her strength, and were the one's she would instigate water fights with. She had a natural smile, with a honest and compassionate character, who freely gave her love to others. She was her children's best friend and their hero. As she leaves this life for her new one, Bette will keep in her heart the love of her children: Terrence Finazzo of VA, Anne Diabo of Massena, Mary Lyn and Donald Neves of MA, Anthony Finazzo of Massena, Jeffery and Adele Finazzo of Lawrenceville, Valerie Sochia and Willard Law of Brasher Falls, and Sheila Irwin and Mike Dishaw of Massena, her step-children; John A. and Bonnie Sienkiewycz of Florida, Deborah and Peter Unwin of Ft. Covington, Fred and Debbie Sienkiewycz of Massena, Patti and Denis Blais of Helena and Kathy and David Dunkelburg of Massena; her grandchldren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the many foster children she cared for. Bette was predeceased by a infant son, Scott, her siblings, Delon Bryant, Leonard Bryant, Eugene Bryant, Charles Bryant, Bernard Bryant, Robert Bryant, Pauline LaBrake and Iola Curtis. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Bette's Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 am at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls.
