Obituary of Michael R. Crump

Winthrop - Michael R. Crump, 62, passed away Sunday at Canton Potsdam Hospital where he had been admitted earlier that day. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. A native of the north country Michael is one of sixteen children. He was born in Winthrop, NY on February 14, 1948 the son of Lester and Dorothy (Rockwood) Crump. He graduated from St. Lawrence Central School in 1966. For 32 years he was employed with Alcoa working in many different areas of the plant. Mike married Merry Clark on February 18, 2001 by the Honorable Jerry Mahoney Justice of the Peace. He was once a member of the Moose Head Hunting Club. Mike found much peace enjoying the simple things in life, hunting, fishing, wood working and riding his horse. Surviving Mike is his wife Merry; his daughter Joy and her husband John Dawson of Virginia; his two sons Michael his wife Tracy Crump of Winthrop, and Terry Crump of Massena; three brothers James of Winthrop; Donald of Tupper Lake, Mark and his wife Vicki of Winthrop; three sisters Linda Shattuck and Sylvia Snyder both reside in Winthrop and Lillian Cuthbert of Norwood. Also surviving him is his step children Merry Jo Parker of Winthrop; Richard D. McCarthy II of New Jersey and Ejay McCarthy of Iraq. He enjoyed time with his six grandchildren eight step grandchildren and his new great grandson He is predeceased five brothers and four sisters They family has requested no public calling hours, however a memorial services honoring Michael's life will be held Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M at the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. Pastor Lee Sweeney, of the Knapps Station Community Church will be presiding. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Michael's honor to the Tri Town Vol. Rescue Squad.
