Winthrop- Mrs. Mechelle A. Arquitt, 52, passed away Thursday November 12, 2015 at The University of Vermont Medical Center with her family by her side. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Born in Potsdam on August 5, 1963 to the late Anthony J. and Iva I. (Fletcher) Arquiett, Mechelle was the youngest of 13 children. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from St. Lawrence Central High School. Mechelle relocated to the Rochester area and married Paul Arquitt on April 24, 1985 at her sister's home in Marion. Truly compatible with one another and each other's world, Paul and Mechelle celebrated 30 years this past April. At one time Mechelle worked for the Xerox Company. Gifted with a creative spirit and an artistic eye, Mechelle was known for her homemade cards and crafts. Tailored specifically for each family member or friend, Mechelle would spend hours on her creations paying special attention to detail. She also took pleasure in sketching, photography and scrapbooking; most recently creating a scrapbook of her own butterfly photos. Those who knew and loved her will also remember her homemade bread and rolls. Mechelle is survived by her husband, Paul of Winthrop, her daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Jack Washburn, grandchildren, Zach and Aubrie Washburn all of Sodus Point; 11 siblings: Beverly and James Gauthier of Brasher Falls, William and Keitha Arquiett of Brasher Falls, Wayne and Michelle Arquiett of Winthrop, Patricia (Wayne) Arquitt of Winthrop, Linda (Douglas) Hartson Sr., of Winthrop, Colin and Dawn Arquiett of Brasher Falls, Steven and Missy Arquiett of Winthrop, Kathy Ward of Ogdensburg, Karen and Christopher LaMora of Marion, Sherry and Kevin Shaver of Ogdensburg, and Sheila and Chris Sharland of Wolcott, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Dale Arquiett, and brother-in-laws, Douglas Hartson Sr., and Wayne Arquitt.
