North Lawrence - Phyllis Brown, 76, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Following Phyllis' wishes there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass and burial will be held on Tuesday May 31, 2016 to 10 am at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence followed by burial in the parish cemetery. Phyllis was born on August 29, 1939 in North Lawrence, daughter of the late Harold J. and Ethel E. (Villnave) Crump. She graduated from St. Lawrence Central School. Throughout her career, she worked at North Country Savings Bank and for many years worked at Jim Dalton Pontiac in Potsdam. Phyllis made friends easily and the time spent with them was important. Her positive attitude and strong faith kept her motivated and always looking ahead. She enjoyed bingo, games of chance, music and traveling to see her brothers. Phyllis is a communicant of St. Lawrence Church, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She is survived by her brother, Gerald Crump of Manvel, TX, many cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her twin brother, Philip, two sisters in law, Phyllis Crump and Joyce Crump. Those wishing to share memories or condolences, please do so at www.hammillfh.com.
