Additional Obit Info

St. Regis Falls- Mrs. Helen D. Wilson, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 28, 2016 at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. She was born in Canton on September 7, 1919 to the late Murray J. and Helen (Bascom) Locy. She was raised and educated locally, attending school till the 8th grade. She married Otis Wilson on October 10, 1936. They shared a devoted union of 57 years until the time of his passing on October 23, 1993. Helen was a homemaker, always working hard to provide and care for her family; there wasn't a task that she wasn't afraid to accomplish. She truly enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning. Those who knew and loved her will always remember her special recipes and how they consisted of 'a little of this, a pinch of that,' and it would always be delicious; especially her chocolate cake, fudge, and doughnuts. In her earlier years, Helen was very active outdoors; mowing, going to the woods with Otis for sugaring, and gardening. Later in life in her leisure time she would enjoy some TV but mostly she would spend time reading. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Leon) Martin of St. Regis Falls, her grandchildren: Joseph Martin of St. Regis Falls, Steve and Sherry Martin of Massena, Scott and Kim Randolph of Daphne, AL., Kim and John Zapf of Canton, OH., Richard and Janice Ploof of Jacksonville, NC., Donna Sweet of Dickinson, Kelly and Kevin Provost of Santa Clara, James Farmer of Fort Jackson, Beth Lawrence of North Carolina, and Jack Wilson of NC., 16 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Helen Kay Locy of Winthrop, and her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Always close to her heart is the memory of her children who predeceased her, Jack Wilson, Janet Farmer and Sally Randolph. A graveside service will be held Wednesday June 1 at 11:00 at Mound Hill Cemetery in Nicholville with Pastor Lee Sweeney. For those wishing to express an act of kindness, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Memories and condolences may be shared with her family at www.hammillfh.com.
