Parishville - Ruth S. Richardson, 93, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton. Following her wishes there will be no public services, she will be buried at Hillcrest Cemetery in Parishville, next to her husband. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Ruth was born on September 5, 1923 in Hopkinton, daughter of the late Roy and Mildred (Newtown) Simonds. She graduated from Parishville High School and on March 8, 1941, married Wayne H. Richardson at the Potsdam Methodist Parsonage with Rev. Richardson officiating. Her husband passed away February 11, 1995. For 25 years, Ruth worked for Dr. Robert Collins in Potsdam and in 1980, Wayne and Ruth became the Caretakers at Catamount Lodge for St. Lawrence University. She retired in 1996. Ruth was a member of the Potsdam United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid Society. Surviving Ruth are two daughters; Sandra Robar of Sterling Pond and Mary and Gary Patraw of Greenwood Lake, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her husband, Wayne, brother Bernie Simonds and two sisters, Stella Jones and Jessie Jenne, predeceased her.
