Potsdam - Richard Gary Ashley, 69, passed away Thursday May 4, 2017 at Crown Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Cortland. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home, where Richard's memorial gathering will be held May 17th, from 2 to 3 pm with a service at 3 pm. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Norwood. Richard was born on November 24, 1947 in Massena, son of the late James J. and Frances (Moody) Ashley and attended Norwood/Norfolk High School. He worked in Rochester until his disability. He is survived by seven children; Victory Ashley and Richard Ashley of North Lawrence, Heidi Ashley of Rochester, Jimmy Ashley of North Lawrence, Rebecca Ashley of Oswego, Sherry Ashley and Jennifer Ashley, both of Brasher Falls, one sister and brother in law, Donna and Bill Nichols of Potsdam and numerous grandchildren. He was predeceased by seven siblings; Eva Self, Harold Ashley, Lowell Ashley, Arthur Ashley Jean Vari, Raymond Ashley and Rose Filer. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.hammillfh.com.
