I first met Charlie when he was 15. He impressed me as a good, kind-hearted young man. I remember him as a skilled trapper, avid hunter, and woodsman. He had an easy-going and soft-spoken nature which appealed greatly. I will always have very fond memories of him.

I have so many memories of our parents playing cards and us kids playing out in the sand pit, catching lightning bugs, playing hide & seek in the dark, and Charlie and I testing how edible dry dog food is! Treasured memories that I will keep in my heart always.

To Charlie's family and to Dawn and Kathy: In a letter to Aunt Ruthie I expressed my feelings about Charlies' passing. I feel that we are all on the road of Life which has regular exit routes for everyone. Some are easy, some are hard. Some are sudden, others are long and lingering. We cannot block these exits even when we wish with all our hearts we could. Charlie's exit was indeed a relief to him from his pain and suffering, and this alone is reason for us to bid him farewell as he is now released from his earthly sorrows. No more pain. No more illness. No more weariness from putting up the good fight. I sense that he was greeted with open arms by his tearful Mom as she hugged her dear son and welcomed him home. I know he will be greatly missed here, but will also be long and lovingly remembered for the great goodness of his heart and soul.

Thank you Charlie for giving me the life with you for the past 47 years. It's been tough within the past year. What I will miss is the closing of our conversation on the telephone with you saying, "Love you sis". You will always have a place in my heart along with our mother. May you rest in peace with the journey ahead.
Love you sister Dawn
