Winthrop - Charles Wayne Hartson, 47 passed away September 29, 2010 at the Canton Potsdam with the support of his loving family at his side. Charlie had been ill for some time.
He was born November 1, 1962, in Potsdam, the son of Charles William and Beverly Ann (Dibble) Hartson. Charlie graduated from Parishville-Hopkinton School in 1980. Charlie worked with wood all his life. At one time he was logger of Toomey Bros, as well as Curran Logging (Seaway Timber). Recently he worked as a carpenter for St. Lawrence Services.
Charlie loved the outdoors; fishing and hunting, especially the sounds and smells of the chain saw cutting wood. He was a skilled carpenter, and had a great interest in cooking.
Charlie is survived by his father Charles William of Winthrop- his son Charles T. (Chuckie) Hartson; three daughters Aleasha Hartson and her companion Marcus Logan, Brittany Hartson, and Mackenzie Hartson; all of Winthrop. He was extremely proud of his very precious granddaughter Chlowie Ann Logan. Also surviving Charlie are his two sisters, Dawn and her husband Pat Hewlett of Potsdam; Kathy and her husband Bill Eggleson of Canton, three nieces, one nephew, one great niece, and nephew as well as several aunts uncles and cousins.
He is predeceased by his mother Beverly who passed away January 15, 1992
Funeral services honoring the life of Charlie will be held Friday evening at 8:00 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop, with Rev. Lee Sweeney, pastor of the Knapp Station Community Church presiding.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6 -8.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Charlie's honor to the Richard Winters, Cancer Treatment Center.
