Obituary of Cynthia J. Gibson
Brasher Falls- Ms. Cynthia J. (Harper) Gibson, 57, passed away Wednesday November 6, 2019 at Massena Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Cynthia was born in Potsdam on January 11, 1962 to the late Evan S. and Erma R. (Whitherell) Harper Sr. and graduated from Parishville – Hopkinton High School. She married Joseph A. Gibson Sr., at the Nicholville United Methodist Church on July 12, 1980. Joseph passed away on September 5, 2011.
Cynthia was lighthearted, yet strong-willed. She encompassed a reserved private lifestyle, finding contentment within her home. She enjoyed observing wildlife, especially her birds and was fond of watching the daytime soaps and her favorite, The Price Is Right.
She is survived by a daughter, April Charleson and her companion Jason Coughlin of Brasher Falls, 2 sons; Derek Gibson and his wife Rachel of North Lawrence, and Bryce Gibson and his companion Nikki Trimm of Hermon; her grandchildren: Ivory Charleson, Kierra Charleson, Kenneth Charleson Jr., Taylor Gibson, Joseph A. Gibson III., Brittney Gibson, Lacey Gibson, Logan Gibson, Paul Gibson, and Addelyn Gibson; 2 great-grandchildren: Victoria and Alonie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Survivors also include her siblings: Evan and Connie Harper Jr. of Parishville, Dale Harper of Potsdam, Dean and Ellen Harper of Richville, Kent and Karen Harper of Pasadena, MD., Cheryl and Carmen Armstrong of Parishville, Neil and Holly Harper of Potsdam; and a sister-in-law, Cindy Harper.
Cynthia holds the memory of those who predeceased her within her heart, a son, Joseph A. Gibson Jr., and a brother Karl Harper, along with her parents and husband.
Visitation will be Thursday November 14 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Cynthia’s Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00PM at the conclusion of visitation. Burial will follow in Hopkinton – Ft. Jackson Cemetery.
