Dickinson – Mr. Francis R. LaPage, 77, peacefully passed away on Monday August 30, 2021, in the comfort of his home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls and in keeping with Francis’ wishes there will be no calling hours.
His family will be holding a Celebration of Life Memorial on Saturday September 11, 2021, at the family home in Dickinson, beginning at 1:00 PM.
Francis was born in Ogdensburg on January 12, 1944, to the late Francis and Pearl (Cantwell) LaPage. He attended St. Lawrence Central School and on June 21, 1969, he married Bertha T. Martin at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls. True companions in life they shared a blessed union until the time of Bertha’s passing on July 7, 2012.
For many years Francis was a truck driver, maintaining the roads and highway for the Town of Santa Clara. He also drove the transport bus for the elderly, after his retirement from the Town.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, was always ready for a trip to the casino, and cherished all the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Francis is survived by his children and their spouses, Richard and Bunny French of Moira, Scott and Suzanne LaPage of Norwood, Timothy LaPage and Lisa LaBarge of Stockholm, and Nicole and Rodney Jock of Dickinson; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary, Betty, Linda, Janie (Hank), Suzie, and Norma; brothers Wayne (Betty), Gerald (Elaine), Hervey (Ruth), and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother Donald LaPage and a sister Evelyn Robare.
