Mrs. Dow was my very favorite teacher. I, myself, am now a retired teacher, and when my students - in years past - asked about my favorite teacher, I always told them of Mrs. Dow. She was my 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher, my 9-12th grades Spanish teacher, and my guidance counselor. I absolutely LOVED her. Even though I was not a good student, she always was patient with me, and she believed in me. I went on to graduate cum laude from college, and, as I previously stated, I followed in her footsteps as a teacher. When I was a girl, I moved to North Lawrence from Albany, NY, and my family even lived across the street from the Dows. Words cannot begin to express the deep respect and admiration I had for her.
