Obituary of Richard G. Ross

Santa Clara – Richard G. Ross, 77, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021, at his home under the care of his wife and hospice. Following his wishes, his family will honor his life privately. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Richard was born in Bridgeport, CT on August 4, 1944, son of the late George and Gail (Hand) Ross. He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He married Jane Soucy on May 12, 1973, at St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls. Together they owned and operated Ross’s General Store in St. Regis Falls from 1980 to 1989. He enjoyed working on cars with his friend David Vanderwalker, games of chance and spending time with family. Richard is survived by his wife, Jane, his brother, Gilbert Ross of Clarksville, GA, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Heidi Soucy of Naples, FL and Ronald and Joan Soucy of Santa Clara, nieces and nephews, Douglas Soucy and Brian Fleming of Seattle, WA, Daniel and Kelly Soucy of Montrose, CO, Tina Ellis and fiancé, Jim Bassett of Brattleboro, VT and Jason Jasensowki of Washington, DC, great nieces and nephew, Tessa Ellis of Brattleboro, VT, Ryan Jane Soucy and Ben Soucy of Montrose, CO.
