Obituary of Eugene Lawrence Dissottle

Winthrop- Mr. Eugene L. Dissottle passed away on Saturday May 14th, 2022 surrounded by his children and family. Eugene was born to the late Lewis and Marjorie (Dashno) Dissottle in Massena on January 1st, 1946. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam war, and married Frieda Wadleigh Dissottle. Eugene enjoyed doing things with his hands, such as woodworking or using the sawmill, small engine repair, and gardening. Family was important to him, including his pets. He worked as a Bus Driver for the St. Lawrence County School district. Mr. Dissottle is survived by his children; Eugene L. (Katrina) Dissottle II of Winthrop, Gerald “Jerry” Dissottle of Massena, Susan (Kris) Compeau of Mexico, and Nancy (Gordon) Richards of Canton, a brother; Gary Dissottle of Winthrop, a sister; Deborah Sweeney of Alabama, 21 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Eugene is predeceased by a brother; Joseph Dissottle, and two grandchildren; John Dissottle and Kayla Dissottle. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Hammill Funeral Home on Thursday, May 19th from 1:00-3:00 PM, with prayers at 3:00pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at the North Lawrence Fire Hall.
