Obituary of Arthur F. Thornton
Arthur F. Thornton, 92, of North Lawrence passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 20, 2023; the first day of spring.
Arthur was born in Paterson, New Jersey to Arthur and Mattie (Terwilleger) Thornton on December 17, 1931.
He earned his Masters Degree at SUNY Potsdam and was a Certified Public Accountant, also working as a substitute teacher for a few schools in the area.
Arthur was a generous man, a true gentleman, and a brilliant writer. He is the published author of the novel, “Common Sense and the Bible; Understanding Our Awesome God.” Volume I, with Volumes II- VII coming out later this year.
He enjoyed traveling, often taking day trips with his spouse to places like Alexandria Bay. Arthur’s passion for flowers and nature meant he could usually be found tending to their yard in the warmer months. Birds and squirrels visited him often, because he always kept the feeders full. Besides having a green thumb, he also was a talented Organist and enjoyed going for walks.
Surviving Arthur is his spouse of over 34 years; Thomas Bourassa, and their dogs; Charlie and Cindy.
He is predeceased by his parents; his brother; Charles Thornton and his loving canine companion; Noha.
A graveside service will be held in the springtime at Mound Hill Cemetery in Nicholville.. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls where memories and words of comfort can be shared at www.hammillfh.com.
