I got to know Mr. LaFave when I played baseball for OFA in the early 70s. He was a good man and he was SLC through and through. The video tribute was wonderfully done!

I was saddened to hear about the passing of "Augie". I have very fond memories of all the baseball games where he was either the umpire, the coach, or out there playing right along with us. Unfortunately, it often takes learning of someone's passing for those memories to surface, and to realize how important they are to us.
With warmest regards,
Dan Kowalchuk

My condolences to The entire LaFave family. Don was absolutely one of my favorite people ever. I looked forward to refereeing HS hockey at Tri -Town. Don was always there to give me the business before the game and between periods. He was one of the very few people we would let into the ref room between periods because he could make me laugh no matter what was going on in the game . He was truly a gentleman.

I remember Donnie coming over to the house one day after he was married, to see Mom, and as he got there, the phone started ringing. He hollered, "I'll get it."
The next thing we heard was "LaFave's summer house, some are here, and some are not." We started to giggle and then his mood got very serious. Turned out, it was our Parish Priest on the other end of the line.

Our deepest sympathy and prayers to Laurie and the family. Don was always a great neighbor and visited my Mom and brought her donuts at the nursing home. He always made time for my Dad and was always ready to help him. RIP Don. Colette and Neil MacIntosh

Mr. Lafave was someone the boys looked forward to seeing at the arena, anywhere for that matter. Keith told me that he spent time visiting with him on his porch and loved their talk. A genuine & kind man, may he rest in peace and still watch his Larries from above.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Mr LaFave I need to tell you that he faithfilly visited my mother Elaine LaMarche at the Highland Nursing Home and always took tme to visit with her and bring doughnuts for the other residents in the dementia unit. It's not a unit most people would be comfortable visiting. She always remembered him and his parents and siblings. She enjoyed his visits. I sincerely appreciated that he made her happy!

Sending our condolences to the Lafave family. Donnie was one of a kind and, growing up in Brasher, a forever friend. I will always remember that when my dad died, Donnie was the very first one thru the door at Hammils at my dads wake. Rest in peace, sir.

I know three young men that thoroughly respected him and enjoyed the ribbing he dished out at the rink. Many a fake egg was cracked on their noggins. Never saw him without a smile. And can hear that booming voice and giggle. He will be missed we are so sorry for your loss. Rest in peace, Don. - The Roses
