St. Regis Falls - Roger C. Hartson, 60, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011, in the privacy and comfort of his home, under the loving care of his family and Hospice. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Roger was born on July 29, 1950 in Potsdam, son of the late Carlton T. and Elizabeth Brothers Hartson. He attended St. Lawrence Central and graduated from Parishville- Hopkinton in 1969. He served with the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War and on May 28, 1977, he married Deborah LaBrake at the Brasher Falls U.M.C.. Roger was self-employed; owning and operating Hartson's Garage in Winthrop, and with his love of the outdoors, moved to St. Regis Falls and created Hartson Logging. He took great pleasure in fishing and could be characterized as an individual with whom you knew where you stood, comical in many ways and his outlook on life was "awesome". He is survived byhis wife, Deborah; four children, Raeanne and Russell Wood of TN, Roger, Jr. and his companion, Toni Fraser, Noel and his wife, Anne, and Thomas, all of St. Regis Falls; two brothers, Ivan and Pauline Hartson of Potsdam, Ted and Cathlene of Louisville and his sister,Carla and Gary Seaver of Potsdam; nine grandchildren, Cullen, Jarrette, Roger Hartson III, Trystin, Clara, Trinity, Chase, Noah, and Natalie; many nieces, nephews and cousins. His family will receive friends at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 am at Forest Cemetery in St. Regis Falls, with Military Honors.
