Moira- Mr. Martin M. Savage, 55, passed away Friday August 26, 2011 at his home with the love and support of his family. Arrangements have been entrusted with Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. Martin was born on September 24, 1955 in Malone, to the late Emry and Rita (French) Savage. Martin was raised and educated locally. On July 16, 2000; after 35 devoted years together, Martin married Thelma Deon at their home in Moira. Martin was a truck driver for Mayville's excavating for many years. He is survived by his wife; Thelma, his children; Rebecca and Mike Leigh of Malone, Michael Savage and Susan Dora and family of Moira, 6 grandchildren, his sisters; Kitty Russell of Brushton, Florence and Alvin Deon of Brasher Falls, Trenia and William Gero of Moira, and his brothers; Roy and Sally Savage of Brasher Falls, and Troy and Tammy Savage of Massena. Survivors also include several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Martin was predeceased by his brother Randy Savage. Those who knew and loved Martin would say you could find him hard at work in the garage, driving 4-wheelers and mudd trucks, or see him at the local tractor pulls. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Martin and Thelma also took pleasure in many camping trips together. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-3. Martin's memorial service will commence at 3pm at the conclusion of visitation, with the Rev. Lee Sweeney celebrating. Memorial contributions may be made in Martin's honor to The Mission of Hope, Chateauguay NY. Following Martin's service the family respectfully invites family and friends to join in a gathering at the Helena Fire Department.
