Obituary of Barbara A. Hulse

Winthrop- Barbara A. Hulse, 79, passed away peacefully Monday (August 29, 2011) at the home of Leroy & Ann Hulse, where she had been in failing health under the care of hospice and her family. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. Barbara was born December 14, 1931, in Massena the daughter of the late Leroy and Mayfred (Endersbee) Hulse. She graduated from Massena Central High School, in 1950. Furthering her education she attended St. John's Hospital, Brooklyn, NY where she obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse. She later moved on to SUNY Plattsburgh where she received a School Nurse Teacher Degree and a Masters Degree in History. For many years she was employed at Massena Central High School, where she was the Head School Nurse. In her quiet gentle nature she cared for many students that walked into her office. Ms. Hulse retired in 1994, after many years of dedication. She enjoyed a good crossword puzzle, traveling, reading, and adding to her collection of dolls. She leaves behind two brothers Frederick (Kathleen) Hulse of Brasher, D. Harrison (Marlene) Hulse of Massena; her aunt Elbertie Thornhill of Greenboro, North Carolina; treasured nieces and nephews, Leroy Hulse, Fred J. Hulse, David Hulse, Patricia Sauve, Barbara Sekera, Donna Hulse, Karen Hulse and Daniel Hulse IV. A memorial service will be held Friday at 4:00 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:30pm - 4:00pm. Interment will take place Tuesday morning at 10:30am at Pine Grove Cemetery II, Norfolk. If one chooses to do so, memorial contributions in honor of Ms. Hulse may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or Tri-Town Nutrition Center, Brasher Falls.
