Obituary of Joseph R. Kirkey

Brasher Falls - Joseph R. Kirkey, 54, passed away in his sleep Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Joseph was born on January 15, 1957 in Massena, son of Richard and Collette (Charette) Kirkey. He graduated from Massena High School in 1974 and continued his education at the Community College of the Finger Lakes. He worked at NY State Campgrounds for several years and then went to St. Lawrence University to work as a Security Officer; he retired in 1990. He is survived by his father, Richard Kirkey of Brasher Falls; several cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Collette on Feb. 14, 2007 and his sister, Mary on June 2, 1955. Friends may call at the Hammill Funeral Home, Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10am at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence; burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
