Dad I just want to say thanks for being the best Dad in the WORLD. We were never the richest family with money but WE ARE the richest family with our love. You done a great job raising us kids. You were always there whether it was to listen to our problems help us with money or even like times when you would take Jenny to her soccer games. You were one strong man no matter what would arise. It hurts to write this but I owe this to you. I can't stop crying but I will be OK. I have great family and friends still here and you looking over me. I could write forever because you are forever with me. I Love You Dad.

Papa you were the greatest man I knew. You were kind, loving and caring, when we were hurt or feeling down you were there to make it better. I miss you more than words can say but with each passing day I know we will meet again just in another way. I love you so much and I always will. I could write a book of all the memories I have of you. I couldn't have asked for anyone better to take care of my grandmother than you, anything she needed you were there, thats how you were with everyone always caring and helping in any way you could. I miss and Love you with all my heart. Your little girl...

It has been years since we have been able to talk, or even see one another. I will never forget all of the times we would come to the farm and visit. Our Dad (Bernie) used to look after your Dad and I'm sure will continue to do so as they are now together again with Nanny. You will continue to be in our prayers.

FOR: MIKE, ROBBIE, KEVIN & JEFF AND THEIR FAMILIES
LYLE, AS I KNEW HIM, WAS THE BEST BROTHER-IN-LAWS THAT ONE COULD ASK FOR. I CAN'T RECALL OF HIM EVER GETTING ANGRY OVER ANYONE OR ANYTHING. HE WAS JUST A FUN LOVING MAN WHO APPRECIATED LIFE. HE LIVED FOR HIS FOUR BOYS, AND DID A GOOD JOB OF BRINGING THEM UP. HE WAS EQUALLY PROUD OF EACH AND EVERY ONE.
HE AND HIS BROTHER BERNARD WERE SO CLOSE; IT WAS LIKE THEY THOUGHT AS ONE. NOW THAT WHOLE FAMILY IS BACK TOGETHER AGAIN. ONLY IN A BETTER PLACE, AND IT IS CALLED HEAVEN.
TO THE BOYS- YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE GOOD MEMORIES OF YOUR DAD. I'M SO SORRY THAT YOU HAD TO LOOSE HIM.
LOVE...AUNT ELEANOR

Brasher Falls - Lyle D, Ward, 73, passed away Sunday (October 16, 2011) at his home. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop.
Lyle was born April 21, 1938 in Massena, the son of the late Gordon and Margaret (Davis) Ward. Growing up in the area he was educated locally through the Massena Central Schools. Lyle married Elizabeth Pecore, who predeceased him in 1974. On July 9, 1976 he was united into marriage with Yvonne LaVare; together they took on the challenge of blending two families as one.
From a very young age Lyle had a passion for horses. He devoted many years training horses for harness racing. Some of his favorite horses were Jigger and Speedy Hunter. Lyle was a longtime dairy farmer, which now his son Michael and his wife Angela carry on the farming tradition.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; four sons, Michael (Angela) Ward of Brasher; Robbie Ward of Brasher; Kevin (Jane) Ward of Massena; Jeffery (Amy) Ward of Brasher. He is also survived by a step daughter Laurie Andrews, five step son's David, Jeffrey, Donald, Randy, and Peter Bell. Also surviving Lyle are seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by a brother Bernard who died in 1981.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1pm, at the Knapp Station Community Church in Knapp Station. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Brasher Falls.
