Winthrop - Ethel M. "Nanny" Page, 98, passed away peacefully Saturday (Dec. 31, 2011) at Canton Potsdam Hospital, surrounded with the love of her family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. Ethel was born November 15, 1913 in Brasher, daughter of the late John and Melvina (Dabien) Currier and received her education locally. She married Leon L. Page, April 2, 1931 in Brasher Falls. Leon predeceased her, September 16, 1979. Nanny cherished all the times with her family. In her leisure she enjoyed card games or a waltz around the dance floor. She was a former member of the Winthrop Grange and Tri-Town Senior Citizens. She is survived by her children; Joyce Cockayne, Jacqueline and Raymond White, Ronald H. and Donna Page, all of Winthrop and Raymond C. and Lucretia Page of Hastings, and her brother, John Currier of Phoenix. Also surviving Nanny are sixteen grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren and sixteen great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A son Robert L. Page, a son in law, Gerald L. Cockayne and a special friend Arnold Clark, predeceased her. Visitation will be held Tuesday (Jan. 3, 2012) from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Hammill Funeral Home. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service which will commence on Wednesday at 1pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Winthrop Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined; however memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Tri-Town Rescue Squad, P.O Box 238, Brasher Falls, NY 13613.
