Winthrop- Gwenethe S. "Gwen" Bradish, 95, passed away on October 11, 2012 at the home of her daughter Pamula McGregor in Davenport, FL where she was under her care and the care of Hospice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Gwen was born on October 23, 1916 in Felts Mills, NY, daughter of the late Edmund Byram Sanford and Florilla Samantha Brainard.
She was employed by the New York Air Brake Company which was later converted into a defense plant during WWII. Gwen operated a Randan Electric welding machine and was responsible for securing floor plates and other armor on the tanks. She is honored on the WWII Memorial.
Gwenethe married Charles E. Bradish on December 23, 1934 at the Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Watertown, where they resided and raised their children till 1955. They then relocated to Winthrop where they lived on Cemetery Street and after the passing of her husband on April 17, 2008 Gwen moved to Frostproof, FL. to be closer to her children.
She is survived by: one son, Charles E. and his wife Mary Bradish of Frostproof, FL., two daughters, Betty and her husband William Gillette of Deer Park, NY, and Pamula and her husband Ralph McGregor of Davenport, FL., 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Her son, Michael D. Bradish, a sister Alice Fields, and 6 brothers, Elvin, Arthur, Frederick, Myuiel, and Theron Sanford predeceased her.
Gwenethe's Funeral Service and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 20 at 11am at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls; entombment will follow in Winthrop Cemetery.
Following the services, Gwenethe's family respectfully invites those to join with them for a luncheon gathering at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Brasher Falls.
