Norwood - Carl A. Eurto, 63, of the Porter Lynch Road, Norwood, passed away at his home, following a lengthy illness Tuesday, March 23, 2010, while under the loving care of his family and Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
Friends may call Thursday, March 25, 2010, from 4-7 p.m., at the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. Private funeral services will be held at the family's convenience. Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery Norfolk.
Carl was born June 29, 1946, the son of Carl L. and Margaret Fish Eurto.
Mr. Eurto entered into the US Navy in August 1963, and was honorably discharged in 1967. He married Joan Murray on July 8, 1967 at St. Andrews Church, Norwood, with the Rev. Francis J. Maquire officiating. Carl was employed at Reynolds Metals Co, retiring in 1993.
In addition to his wife Joan, Carl is survived by one daughter, Lisa and her husband Robert Colbert of Parishville; grandson Douglas Colbert, Parishville; two sisters, Donna Eurto, Newfield, NY and Tina Derosia, of Raymondville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Carl is predeceased by his parents and one brother, Kenneth.
Carl was a member of the American Legion, Post 925, and a former member of the Norfolk Rod and Gun Club. Prior to becoming disabled, he was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He took great pleasure in watching local high school hockey games and was a lifetime Yankee fan. His greatest joys were cookouts and spending time with family and friends.
