Winthrop- Mr. Fletcher A. Pitts, 71, passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, November 26, 2013. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Fletcher was born in Massena on November 18, 1942 to the late Harold and Bernice (McGregor) Pitts. He was raised and educated locally, attending Massena High School. On November 25, 1967 he was married to Carol (St. Louis) LaVassaur, their marriage ended in divorce. For many years Fletcher worked construction for the former St. Regis Home Improvement in Massena. More recently he was employed by the Office of the Aging in Canton, delivering meals for Meals on Wheels. He retired in December of 2010. Fletcher cherished his grandkids and loved spending time with them. He enjoyed fishing and one of his favorite pastimes was playing shuffleboard. He will be greatly missed and always remembered in the hearts of his family Surviving Fletcher are his children: Tonya and Larry Belknap of Massena, Flossie Wawrzyniak and Shawn Sullivan of Norfolk, Holly Pitts of Massena, and Carl and Tracy Pitts of Hopkinton, Carl's mother, Tracy Ward of Knapp Station, 11 grandchildren: Amanda and Corey Belknap, Christopher Jr. and Aaron Mitchell, Ryan Fullerton, Karen Wawrzyniak, Zachary Pitts, Makayla and Anthony Stockwell, Carl L. Jr. and Alexis Pitts, great-granddaughter, Emmalyn Baile, his siblings, Bernard and Linda Pitts, Earl, and Harold Pitts, all of Massena, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Milton, Victor, and Benjamin Pitts, and his sister Flossie. In keeping with Fletchers wishes, services were held privately at the convenience of his family.
