Linda & family,
I was shocked to hear of Alex's passing. It's hard to say goodbye to someone who has touched our lives. I spent some time at your home and Alex and Linda were always caring and supportive people. Both of you always were willing to help people and it showed when we were without power for 2 weeks during the ice storm, you let us come over and use your shower.
Know that he is at piece and memories of him will keep him alive always in your heart and in your life.
Much love to you all!

Winthrop- Alexander "Alex" A. Razis, 65, passed away Sunday February 23, 2014 at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Alex was born in Potsdam on November 2, 1948 to the late Edward A. and Brigida "Lena" A. (Maniero) Razis. He was raised and educated locally, attending St. Lawrence Central High School. On October 24, 1970 Alex married Linda Stark at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Potsdam. They shared in a blessed union of 43 years built upon love, faith, and dedication.
Since childhood, Alex helped on the family farm. He eventually was overseeing and handling all aspects of farming. He also worked as a farm laborer for Stauffer's Farm, and up until 2013 Alex was still raising cattle. He embraced hard work throughout his life and was proud that this trait continues with his family.
Alex's outgoing friendly spirit paired with his sense of humor made him an exceptional people person. He truly enjoyed chit-chatting and good conversation with friends, and especially coffee at the diner with the guys. He was a member of the bowling league at Big D's House, and the former Gervais Lanes, and enjoyed hunting.
Those who love and know Alex best reflect upon how he was "hard-nosed, but still had a soft touch". He will always be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him.
Alex was a parishioner of the St. Patrick and St. Lawrence Catholic Churches, and a member of the Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Department for 45 years.
Alex is survived by his wife, Linda, 6 children; Sarah and Reggie Judware of North Lawrence, Melissa "Missy" Razis and her companion Ethan Cheney of North Lawrence, John Razis and his companion Helen Wagstaff of Parishville, Anthony "Tony" and Jamie Razis of Ft. Washington, PA., Shallon Razis of Fairbluff, NC., and Mathew and Laurie Razis of Winthrop, his 12 grandchildren whom he cherished; Brittany, Jane, Justin, Ashley, Alexandria, Taylor, Damien, Harley Jean, Jose', Gabriella, Jasmin, and Kristofor, his 2 adored great-grandchildren; Sebastion and Chevelle, 2 sisters; Eve Razis- Thorpe and her husband Phillip Thorpe of Rochester, and Theresa Razis West of Lawrenceville.
Survivors also include his aunts, uncles, and cousins in Italy, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Always close to Alex's heart, is the memory of those that predeceased him; his sister, Elizabeth M. Empey, nephew, Kristofor (Razis) Perritt, and niece, Carinadina Empey.
Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 at the funeral home. Alex's Mass of Christian burial and funeral service will be celebrated Saturday at 10am at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls. Burial will take place at St. Lawrence Cemetery in the spring.
For those wishing to express an act of kindness, memorial contributions may be made in Alex's honor to the Tri-Town Volunteer Rescue Squad or the Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Dept.
Memories and condolences may be shared with his family at www.hammillfh.com.
