Winthrop – Audrey E. Toth, 71, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital with the love and support of her family at her bedside. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.. Audrey was born on September 2, 1942 in Potsdam, daughter of the late Arthur H. and Krystal m. (Ash) Cole, Sr. She received her diploma from St. Lawrence Central School. Her marriage to Richard White ended in divorce. On October 3, 1992, she married Stephen Frank Toth at the gazebo in Massena. They were a unique couple blessed with 21 years who successfully blended their children into one family. Throughout the years, Audrey worked as a waitress and cook at various restaurants. Hungry patrons, who stopped into Lil's Place in Brasher Falls, knew they would receive some awesome food and the "Best Macaroni & Cheese in the North Country". A very talented lady, she would do macramé, crochet, make dolls and expressed her feelings in her writings. She wrote poems and was able to show her humor in the roasts she wrote. Audrey was a naturally wise person, who did not judge people, accepted everyone as a friend, giving overflowing love and hugs you would never forget. She loved to dance to country western music, doing her "cold stomp", entertaining those around her. Her beautiful soul emitted a positive attitude that proved she was an angel on earth. She will remain forever in the hearts of; the man that called her "Lovie", her husband, Frank; her children, Lori and Gerald Ashley of Norwood, Sherry and Hal Gilbert of Brasher Falls, Christopher and Patti White of Brasher Falls and her step-son, Dan and Jolene Truax of Massena; her brother, Herman and Zelma Cole of Mitchell, IN; her sisters, Ruth Spoor of Churubusco, Shirley and Theron LaRue of Norwood, and Dayna Cole (now eligible) from Norwood; her grandchildren, Adam and Rebecca White, Krystal White, Elijah and Liza gilbert, Michelle and Travis Mattison, Molly Sur White, Joshua White, Hannah White and Levi White; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
