Obituary of Ann M. Crinklaw

Nicholville- Mrs. Ann M. Crinklaw, 79, passed away Thursday August 14, 2014 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital surrounded by her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Ann was born on May 27, 1935 in Nicholville to the late Fullom and Myrtle (Fisk) Corwin. She was raised and educated locally; attending Nicholville School and graduating from St. Regis Falls High School in 1953. After graduation, she was married to Durwood Peet which ended in divorce. Ann was united into marriage with Paul Karlberg, who predeceased her on April 2, 1992. She was blessed with another love in her life when she was married to Donald Crinklaw on September 17, 1994. The two were married by the Justice of the Peace in Hopkinton and shared in a blessed union for 20 years. Don was predeceased by his first wife, Alice Crinklaw in 1991. Ann began work at Nicholville Telephone Co. as a switchboard operator. She then worked a few years at Marine Midland in Potsdam, and lastly was employed at Key Bank in Winthrop for many years as a bank teller; the position from which she retired. Those who knew and loved Ann will always remember her collection of antiques. She had a wide variety of items such as: salt & pepper shakers, old fashion Santa's, snowmen, and her favorite, cookie jars. She grew to enjoy Christmas decorations all year long. The way she browsed through local shops and stores was just as unique as the items she would find. Her family remembers how she was always giving; whether it was a donation to a local organization or foundation, or giving her love and care to family, and friends. She had a true genuine heart with a lot of love to give. She is survived by her husband: Donald, her children: Tom and Marlu Peet of Potsdam and Nancy Peet of Vashon, WA., her step-children: Jean and Willy Miller of Nicholville, Judy and John Crowley of Cicero, and Jerry and Angie Crinklaw of Nicholville, 12 grandchildren: Gregory, Andrew, Jeff and Candy, Sian, Ryan, Jessica, Allison, Lance, Carissa and Steve, Cassandra and Justin, Jason, and Brandon, 11 great-grandchildren: Keeygan, Kelson, Karter, Kameron, Cody, Seth, Breydon, Will, Colby, and Natalie, her sisters and brothers-in-law: Joan and Roger Parks of ME., and Linda and Jim Ballou of Bridgeport, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Ann was also predeceased by, her step-daughter Donna Snyder, great-grandson Kyle Cootware, and a sister, Janice Bergin. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Ann's Funeral and Remembrance Service will commence upon conclusion of visitation at 7pm, with Certified Celebrant, Julia Goodman officiating. For those wishing to express an act of kindness, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or to the Tri-Town Rescue Squad.
