Brasher Falls - Maurice E. Charlebois, 87, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, November 10, 2014. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Maurice was born on September 23, 1927 in Chrysler, Ontario, Canada, son of the late Emile and Lourix (Leroux) Charlebois and graduated from St. Raphael's in Ontario. On February 11, 1956, he married Rita Leroux at Sacred Heart Church in Alexandria, Ontario. On May 1, 1956, they moved to Brasher Falls where they shared a loving and devoted union of 56 years, prior to her passing on June 24, 2012. He worked for 25 years at General Motors in Massena in the furnace Room, retiring in 1987. Maurice held sacred his spirituality and practice his Catholic faith as a communicant of St. Patrick Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially cutting wood, reading, Canadian history and was a avid Montreal Canadian fan. He is survived by his two daughters, Pauline James of South Glengarry, Ontario and Colette and Neil MacIntosh of Massena; two grandchildren, Brennan James and Jennifer James of Cornwall; two sisters Blanche Charlebois of Cornwall and Claudette LaRoque of Alexandria. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ernest, Irene, Homer Paul, Laurence, Horience, Armand, Eva, Laurette, Ferand, Euclide and Evette. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9 to 10 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Alexandria, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Tri Town Rescue Squad, American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
