Obituary of Dorothy I. Mullarkey
Dickinson Center – Dorothy I. “Dot” Mullarkey, 60, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Dot was born on April 17, 1954 in Quincy, MA, daughter of the late Claude and Vera (Muncie) Bonner. She graduated from Quincy High School. For a few years, she worked in the boatyards and then became a nurse’s aide, working with the elderly in nursing homes.
She met her companion, Arthur Horton, sharing almost 25 years together. She enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, and spending time outdoors with her family and friends who lovingly gave her the nickname of “Tiny Toes”. Always ready for a good time, she instigated communication by “yelling at Art” to get his attention. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, even though she hated the cold.
Her memories remain in the hearts of Art; her daughter, Jessica Bonner of Port Henry; two sisters in law, Heather Bonner and Barbara Bonner, both of Danforth, Maine; grandchildren, Sara Bonner, Dominic Bonner and Sadie Bonner; nieces and nephew, Brittney York, Darin York and Denise Ostrander.
Always close to her heart is the memory of her children who predeceased her, Julie Bonner and Scotty Bonner; and her brothers and sisters, Bobby, Freddie, Billy, Winnie, and Claudette.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 11am to 12pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls, immediately followed by her funeral service. Burial will be in the spring in Fairview Cemetery in Dickinson Center.
Memories and condolences can be shared with her family at www.hammillfh.com.
