Ogdensburg - Daniel S. Denney, 63, passed away unexpectedly January 14, 2015, following an automobile accident. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Daniel was born on January 10, 1952 in Watertown, son of Curtis S. and Mary (Pickett) Denney. He graduated from Canton High School and earned his Nursing Degree from SUNY @ Canton. On April 20, 1974, he married Constance Curtis at Grace Episcopal Church in Canton with his father, Rev. Cannon Curtis Denney performing the ceremony. They shared an amazing journey of 40 years of friendship and love.
Daniel was strong-willed, putting his heart into everything he did. Whether working as a nurse or paramedic, taking photographs or playing bass in the many bands throughout the years. He worked as a DJ for WOTT in Watertown, a producer/director for WPBS in Watertown, a nurse at United Helpers Nursing Home in Ogdensburg and Paramedic for R. B. Lawrence Ambulance. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He was striving to teach his grandchildren how to play the guitar as they followed in his love of music. Daniel was an avid photographer who was not afraid to give up the good shot to go for the great one. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees. His spirit and strength of character shone through his accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife, Connie, two sons and daughters in law; Joshua Daniel and Ashley Denney of Massena and Matthew Levon Curtis and Sarah Denney of Chaumont, his parents; Rev. Cannon Curtis and Mary Denney of Ogdensburg, two sisters; Pamela Denney of Tillson and Stephanie Denney of Syracuse, two grandchildren; Justice and Victoria, many nieces, one great niece and nephew. He was predeceased by an infant grandson, Lucas.
Following Daniel's wishes; there will be no visitation or services at this time. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in the spring.
For those wishing to do so, please consider donations to your local rescue squad.
Memories and condolences can be shared with his family at www.hammillfh.com.

My condolences for your loss.
I first met Dan in the first EMT class I took in, I think, 1979. His EMT # is only a few digits different from mine.
Our paths have crossed on many occasions since then. It was always great to run into Dan to see what he was up to and talk about EMS. He was a dedicated EMT and Paramedic. I'll miss seeing him.

Hi Connie,
Very sorry about Dan. I only saw him once a year in Harrisville but it certainly was a day of reflection when I heard the news via Morgan. I clicked on a random video clip from last year's Walden and, sure enough, there he was, sleeping in a chair before I panned over to Kenny and Rod. Loved the photo your son Matt posted of him in the ambulance.
Keep knitting!,

My deepest wishes to the family. I was privileged to have worked with Dan at Guilfoyle Ambulance for several years. He was a compassionate medic always caring for the best of the patients he cared for in their needs. Also knew him thru WWNY TV where my father was Chief Photographer.
He was great with his kids and a carrying husband always very family oriented.

I had the privilege to serve with Dan on the Cape Vincent Ambulance Squad for 9 years. I learned a great deal from him about caring for people, about the skills needed to do so as part of an EMT team, and most of all about the volunteerism necessary to love our neighbors as ourselves.
My most sincere condolences to Connie and her family who, like me, are going through a sudden and unexpected loss.

I am very sorry at the passing of my friend Dan Denny. I knew him very well when I was doing news at Channel 7 and he and I would often talk about my first radio stint at WOTT in Watertown. He was a terrific talent and on top of that he was always very considerate and caring.
I am sure he is in a better place. Please pass on my deepest sympathy to his family.

Connie and family,
So sorry to hear of Dan's sudden passing. We have known him for a long time. We lived in Three Mile Bay and were both members of the TMB ambulance squad before moving to South Carolina.
When you were in Cape Vincent, we always had a place to park for the French Festival Parade wity our two children and then enjoy time with your family. Joel and Dan also worked at Guilfoyle together.
Again so sorry for your loss and know that we are thinking of you.
