Norfolk - Philip J. Simons, 68, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Philip was born on January 18, 1947, son of the late Steve and Doris (Lonkey) Simons. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Massena High School then from Canton ATC in 1967. Phil worked at Reynolds Metals in the Carbon Dept. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time in the woods. He is survived by two nieces, Christine McPhilomy and Lisa Ziegler of Ft. Meyers, FL, and many friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Steven J. Simons and Billie Simons. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 2 pm, immediately followed by his funeral service. Burial will be in Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop. In lieu of flowers, memorial in his name can be made to the Cancer Care Center at Canton Potsdam Hospital, 50 Leroy Street, Potsdam, NY 13676.
