North Lawrence- Mr. Stephen A. Mossow, 63, passed away, Wed. February 11, 2015 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Steve was born in Massena on June 13, 1951 to the late William F. and Ethel J. (LaBarge) Mossow. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from St. Lawrence Central High School. On February 14, 1976 he married Sally A. Burgoyne at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massena. Steve and Sally enjoyed life together, blessed with a loving union of 29 years. Sally passed away on June 28, 2005.
For 40 years Steve worked as an automotive mechanic, working for numerous garages in the North Country area, but mainly at Chrysler Dodge & Plymouth in Massena.
Steve enjoyed the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, horseback riding with Lacy, or racing lawn mowers with Eric; he fully embraced the North Country spirit. He earned the title of Crew Chief for Mossow's Motor Sports. Steve was in the best company when surrounded by family and friends, and especially when caring for his grandson Caiden, who was his pride and joy.
He was a member of the Northern New York Lawn Mower Racing Association and the North Lawrence Fire Department.
He is survived by his children: Eric A. Mossow, Lacy A. Mossow and her Fiancé' Allan Parker, all of North Lawrence, Brent and Kellie Mossow of St. Regis Falls, and Chad Mossow, his grandchildren, Caiden Parker, Brandon, Aryanna, and Katrina Mossow, sister and brother-in-law, June and Lindsey Gladding of Massena, and his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Bonnie Mossow of Chase Mills, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his close friends, Jeff Arquite, Jeff McCuin, and Kenneth Varriale.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Iona Rosen, Beatrice Jacobs, and Gerald Mossow.
Stephen's Memorial service will be celebrated Thursday February 19, at 11:00am at the Life in His Arms Community Church in North Lawrence. For those wishing to express an act of kindness please consider memorial donations in Stephen's honor.
